Erins Edge Double Magnum Ben, SH
DOB: 6-19-2004, OFA#161370 Excellent, EL31698, CERF 41257, should not carry Y
CNM Clear CNM05-320, EIC Clear DO8-041169 PRA Clear 10-80834
Sperm count done 6/08 1.25 Billion, thaw rate 90%
Ben was retrieving ducks in the water at 2 1/2 months and walking with them at hold. He has great bone, is very dark, and as you can see getting more handsome every year and he also has a pleasing, happy personality. Ben has a lot of natural hunting ability with an outstanding nose, which some times gets him in trouble in competition, but he will not quit until he digs out the birds. He naturally stays close hunting, and is quiet as his sister in the blind. My Ben now is 77# and is a square dog and looks like a Labrador should but with an all field background. His Pups make excellent hunting dogs, hunt test competitors, as well as family companions. Ben can breed and then gently play with a puppy afterwards, he loves kids, and is very extremely affectionate.
Ben is siring some very natural, birdy good looking retrievers just like him. See the 2008 News page. Ben is training for FT and HT, currently running HT. The goal is MH/QAA. He went 5/5 for his Senior title and he is now running Masters. He is linebred on CFC/CAFC Pachanga Magnum Force. His grandmother is my QAA bitch from Pachanga. Ben's siblings are very natural hunters. His father GRHRCH Gator Pt's Magnum Gentle Ben MH,QAA held 3 titles, passed 72 straight hunt tests, and is rated the #3 sire in HRC/UKC history. Gentle Ben's full sister is the only FC/AFC chocolate female in AKC history and has produced many field champions.

Roady and Rizzo's Story and FC Rip
In 1989 I bought a dog named Charger, a Chocolate out of a black, AFC Westwind's Iron Fist out of a NFC sired bitch. I looked for him for over 3 years. At a field trial in 1990 he was tragically eaten by an alligator at a field trial in Valdosta GA. Many of my friends were there and with Mary Howley's help I was able to obtain Roady from Charlie and Jan Bunn. In fact, Roady was to be their own dog but they sold him to me because I lost Charger. Roady came up to Wisconsin with a chocolate female and his sister, the future NAFC Hattie McBunn. I was privileged to own Roady, and although I never was the handler to do him justice, he got me hooked into field trials. Fist was no longer alive so I bought Chargers' black sister to retain those lines and bred Molly to Roady but she did not inherit the chocolate gene. Molly was later bred to Abe twice, and I kept Katy from the second breeding. I decided to breed Katy to Rooster because Kathy Swab raised and trained Rooster and she wanted a pup from him after he was sold. Katy had to have a c-section because the first pup was huge and totally stuck head only presentation, and so Rizzo and Rippie were born, a descendant of the Canadian line I brought from Alaska. Rizzo is the most talented dog I have owned and sadly I lost him to a presumed tick bourne infection in May 2008, but fate certainly brought Roady and Rizzo my way through unusual circumstances., and the line will be continued in Rider out of Roady's frozen semen and Rizzo's sister Gallo born 10-8-08 who is now QAA and standing stud.

Ben and Rider are available for Natural Breeding.
STUD CONTRACT (Abbreviated)
1. Bitch must have an OFA and CERF numbers, Elbows recommended, and a negative brucellosis and health exam within 30 days of the anticipated breeding. Health exam must include a vaginal exam to rule out any abnormal obstruction, strictures or abnormal vaginal discharge to ensure a natural breeding can occur. You should do CNM and EIC DNA testing. If you don't know the status of your female you should sell your puppies on limited registration, NOT Full registration. CNM requires a swab CNM http://www.labradorcnm.com/ which is sent to France. EIC requires blood which is sent to U of M. Both are done by your vet. http://www.vdl.umn.edu/guidelinesandforms/submissionguides/canineneuro/home.html
2. Bitch owner should contact stud order at the START of the heat cycle, and no later than 72 hours ahead of expected breeding. My studs are not available for last minute, emergency breedings. In addition, if a breeding has been attempted with another stud you may not breed to one of my studs. If the bitch owner called at the time the bitch went into heat, the time MUST be reconfirmed within 72 hours of breeding to hold the breeding slot open. A non-refundable $50 handling fee will be paid to the stud owner when the bitch is bred, with natural and the balance of the stud fee is due within 2 weeks of whelping. Late checks will be charged the entire stud fee and have to pay the entire stud fee up front on the next breeding.
A courteous bitch owner will also call if they have decided to use another stud because I am setting time aside for your dog. If you fail to call, you will not be approved if you call again. It's simple courtesy folks.
3. I do not board or pickup at the airport. Now that I have a repro vet nearby I strongly recommend doing progesterones starting on day 8 and breeding 2-4 days after the bitch reaches 5 (she can do quantitative progesterones the same day) . Breeding natural you can breed one day, stay over night at a motel and breed the next day, or using the frozen semen and a surgical implant. The Holiday Inn Express in Germantown allows dogs and is about 10 miles away. There is also a motel in Lomira close to the clinic.
4. 3 live puppies at birth as a result of this breeding constitutes a litter. Less than 3 live puppies will entitle the bitch's owner to pay only $150 on a $600 stud fee, $125 per puppy on a $500 stud fee. There is no guarantee of puppies with any method and no refund of up front charges or frozen semen payments.
5. A female must be approved and have an OFA and CERF. Non-hunting females with weak pedigrees and no titles, a Fair OFA, or a female that is under two years or over 7 years may not be approved. If your female is over 5 years old, and never been bred, she may not conceive and progesterone testing must be done. If your bitch doesn't have an OFA# she will not be bred here.
6. A breeding contract will be signed. A non-refundable $50 handling fee will be paid to the stud owner or breeding handler for natural breedings. The balance of the remainer of the stud fee (plus a separate check made out to AKC for $25 plus $2 per puppy for the litter registration) will be sent to Nancy Planasch no later than 2 weeks after the date of whelping. If the balance is not received within 4 weeks of whelping, a late fee will be charged and the stud fee will be the balance of the entire fee. If the stud fee is not paid within 6 weeks, the balance is the entire fee and any future stud service will be provided with the stud fee paid before the breeding takes place. The litter registration may be done online if the stud fee has been paid in full & the check has cleared.
Chilled Semen
Chilled semen can be collected in Wisconsin if the veterinarian, stud, and stud owner are available. It is advisable to notify me as soon as possible in the heat cycle. Chilled semen breedings should be carefully planned and not the last resort when a stud is not available.
Bitch owner must pay for ICG kit(s), all transportation charges, and all vet charges including collection of stud directly to Dr. Marty Greer, Veterinary Village, Lomira, WI. by credit card. Owner should also have progesterone testing done (RIA method recommended) with a recommended baseline test before the heat to time ovulation for the correct time to collect and implant. A $100 non-refundable up front handling fee is charged by the stud owner.
Frozen Semen
Frozen semen is available on Goose and is stored at Brownsville /Lomira Small Animal Hospital. $125 is charged for the frozen semen plus the stud fee.
